Amigurumi - Crochet Moon

To crochet an amigurumi moon was harder then I thought. But with this free crochet pattern you can also easily crochet a beautiful amigurumi moon. If you crochet the amigurumi moon with thicker yarn you will get a nice moon pillow for kids.

Crochet Pattern: Amigurumi – Crochet Moon

We crochet for the amigurumi moon first the body and then the nose, eyes and the pupils. At the end all parts will sewn together an then your crocheted moon is already finished.

Crochet Moon Body (1x)

The body for the amigurumi moon we crochet in spiral rounds with single crochet stitches (US!) and half double crochet stitches (US!).

yellow:
1st round: magic ring + 2 single crochet stitches (US!) + half double crochet stitches (US!) = 4 stitches
2nd round: 2x 2 single crochet stitches (US!) into one stitch, 2x 2 half double crochet stitches (US!) into one stitch = 8 stitches

3rd round: 3x 1 single crochet stitch (US!) into one stitch, 1x 2 single crochet stitches (US!) into one stitch, 3x 1 half double crochet stitch (US!) into one stitch, 1x 2 half double crochet stitches (US!) into one stitch = 10 stitches

Crochet Moon Nose (1x)

The nose for the moon we crochet in spiral rounds mit single crochet stitches (US!). To get a nice shape you can offset the increases and decreases, just use the stitchestable for circles and spheres, if you like.

yellow:
1st round: magic ring + 6 single crochet stitches (US!) = 6 stitches
2nd round: each stitch one stitch = 12 stitches
3rd round: double every 2nd stitch = 18 stitches
4th – 6th round: each stitch one stitch = 18 stitches
7th round: crochet together every 2nd and 3rd stitch = 12 stitches
fill and stuff completely
8th round: crochet together every 1st and 2nd stitch = 6 stitches
cut the thread generous, pull off the loop, close remaining opening, secure and weave in the thread end

Crochet Moon Eyes (2x)

We crochet the eye for the moon in only one round with only half double crochet stitches (US!).

white:
1st round: magic ring + 2 lifting-chain stitches + 8 half double crochet stitches (US!), close round with 1 slip stitch
cut the thread generous, pull off the loop, DONT cut the thread end, will be needed for sewing later

Crochet Moon Pupils (2x)

We also crochet the pupils for the moon in only one round with single crochet stitches (US!).

black:
1st round: magic ring + 1 lifting-chain stitches + 5 single crochet stitches (US!), close round with 1 slip stitch
cut the thread generous, pull off the loop, DONT cut the thread end, will be needed for sewing later

Finish Amigurumi Moon

After you have finished crocheting all parts for the amigurumi moon you can sew them together. First sew on the nose in the middle of the moon. Pay attention to sew it firmly, so no child can pull or turn it off. Then you can sew on the pupils by using the thread ends. The finished eyes you can sew on the moon. At least embroider a mouth with black or red darning yarn.
